Leah Penniman is a prominent author, farmer, and activist who has dedicated her life to promoting social justice, food sovereignty, and sustainable agriculture. She is the co-founder of Soul Fire Farm in New York, which is a community-based farm that provides fresh produce to people who have limited access to healthy food.

As an author, Penniman has written the critically acclaimed book "Farming While Black: Soul Fire Farm’s Practical Guide to Liberation on the Land," which explores the history of African-American farming practices and offers practical tips for sustainable agriculture.

In addition to her work at Soul Fire Farm, Penniman is also the co-founder of Youth Grow urban farm in Worcester, Massachusetts, which aims to empower young people to become leaders in the food justice movement.

In 2019, Penniman was honored with the James Beard Foundation Leadership Award for her work in promoting social justice through sustainable agriculture.

Robert Shetterly is an American artist known for his series of portraits titled "Americans Who Tell the Truth," which features portraits of individuals who have spoken out against injustice and worked towards positive social change.
